Description:Methods are proposed to routinely extract and determine fairly large amounts of iron from aqueous solutions by means of propylene carbonate. This solvent is preferred as an extractant to toxic solvents such as benzene, carbon tetrachloride, or chloroform. One of the methods was applied to the determination of iron in wrought aluminum alloy. [Description provided by NIOSH]
