Description:The Practitioner Training in Ergonomics and Biomechanics diploma and degree program within the School of Continuing Education of New York University is described. The purposes of the program are to furnish occupational health, hygiene, and safety practitioners and engineers with balanced training in ergonomics and biomechanics, create a regional training resource, provide a 1 to 2 year degree program, and develop descriptive literature. The restructuring of course sequence and administration after the program's first year and trainee selection and evaluation processes are discussed. The names and backgrounds of several students are listed, along with the names of graduates supported directly and indirectly by grants. A description of the facilities is provided, and faculty members and guest lecturers are identified. Public lectures given by the program director from 1976 to 1978, which used training aids developed under this training grant, are listed together with his recent publications. Descriptions of the seven courses comprising the ergonomics and biomechanics diploma program also are included. [Description provided by NIOSH]
