Description:The Gambia is one of the smallest countries in Africa, but it is also a nation that prides itself as being able to rise above all the problems it faces. Although there are numerous shortages, economic struggles, and tremendous challenges to the health of Gambians, health care is free. If health care were not free, disease and death rates would be much higher. Nurses are the backbone of the Gambian health care system, even though they are in short supply.
