Despite decades of effort, disparities persist, and changes in the racial and ethnic composition of the population have important consequences for the Nation’s health. NCHS has long been a resource for data that document racial and ethnic disparities in health status, health insurance coverage, access to care, and other aspects of health. Virtually every major report and initiative on racial and ethnic health disparities draws heavily from NCHS’ data collection systems.
