The objectives of this manual were to enable the student to identify hazards in the chemistry laboratory, be able to name common rules that apply to all laboratory situations, and describe safe practices for the following: handling and cleaning glassware, heating liquids with gas and electrical apparatus, and moving and storing reagents. Sections in the workbook covered safety policies and training, safety committees, potential injuries, safety rules, important cautions, glassware, cleaning glassware, heating apparatus, gas burners, electrical heating equipment, heating techniques, Federal Hazardous Chemicals Act, NIOSH Recommended Standard, NFPA Recommended Standard, the handling and storage of reagents, and electrical hazards.
