  The findings of the conference entitled "The Future of Work and Health: The National Assembly" which was held in 1985 were presented. The conference was intended to identify trends that may shape future worksites and to suggest health strategies in light of those trends. An outline of the scope and findings of the Future of Work and Health Project was provided. Key work related trends and relevant statistics were presented along with a brief discussion of the implications of these trends for the workplace. The trends affecting health were considered, along with a discussion of their implications. Strategies to improve work and health for older workers, women and working parents, minority youth, and special needs for technology training and job changes were considered. Strategies were presented for dealing with economic change, the compression of morbidity (keeping people healthy longer), health promotion and wellness, more effective health care delivery, risk assessment, and changes in corporate culture.
