  A series of tests on welding plates to determine the extent of their compliance to the ANSI Z87.1-1968 standard. An attempt was made to identify and test all models currently available in the U.S. which advertise compliance with the ANSI standard. Testing was limited to the standard filter plates in shades of 4, 8, and 12, or the closest available shade. Approximately 950 individual plates, representing 37 models from 16 manufacturers, were evaluated. [Description provided by NIOSH]
