Description:Hexamethylphosphoric-triamide (HMPT) (680319), also known as HMPA, a solvent used in organic and organometallic reactions in laboratories is determined to be tumorigenic, as nasal tumors are observed in rats exposed to the chemical. No data are available on the toxic effects of HMPT in humans, and there is no current OSHA standard for HMPT exposure. Five thousand people are estimated to be occupationally exposed to the compound. A list is given of the major producers and distributors of HMPT. [Description provided by NIOSH]
