  Report of a NIOSH test of nine portable gas meters designed to measure combustible gases for 20 specific design and performance characteristics. Known concentrations of hexane, benzene, and methane are dynamically generated in the range of 0-100% Lower Flammable Limit to test the meters' performance. Based on the results of the test, realistic performance specifications are recommended for two classes of combustible gas meters, which will be used for future NIOSH certification regulations for combustible gas meters.
