Description:Air sampling measurements are made for concentrations of carbon tetrachloride (threshold limit value 10 parts per million in air) and for hazards of poor ventilation in a laboratory operation for sorting gravel by flotation in different liquids of known specific gravity, in this case, a mixture of carbon tetrachloride and acetylene tetrabromide (threshold limit value one part per million in air). Ventilation and use of personal protective equipment are found to be adequate, with concentration of toxic vapors below the safety limit. [Description provided by NIOSH]
