  An information profile on the potential occupational hazards in the spray painting industry (SIC-1721, SIC-7531, SIC-7535) is presented. Process descriptions, relevant chemical and physical agents, number of workers exposed or employed, biologic effects of chemical agents encountered, incidence of injury and illness, and existing exposure standards are included. Pertinent NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluations are reviewed. The authors conclude that workers in the spray painting industry may be exposed to numerous, potentially hazardous chemical agents.
