Description:Genetic algorithms (GA's) are a search technique drawing increasing attention in the field of optimization. GA's are algorithms that use operations found in natural genetics to guide their trek through a search space. The robust nature and simple mechanics of GA's make them inviting tools not only for establishing membership functions, but also for selecting rules to be used in fuzzy logic controllers. GA's are also potentially useful for selecting rules owing to some special traits that differentiate them from conventional techniques. [Description provided by NIOSH]
