Description:This paper evaluates methods of dewatering fine coal refuse slurry using lime and anionic polymer in both manual and automatic flocculant systems. The equipment used in the field tests was relatively inexpensive, and the polymer treatment was shown to be effective both in the laboratory and in the field, its ability to effect immediate separation of water and solids making it an especially useful technique at mines with limited disposal area.
