  Stress from inner thoughts, feelings and fears are discussed with the viewpoint that this type of stress is at the root of other types coming from outside sources. Various theories of stress are reviewed, such as Selye's and especially Menninger's and highlights of Carlos Castanada's approach in experiencing and breaking out of a stress cycle are touched upon. The sources of stress for police officers are analyzed and behavioral indicators are listed. Ways of reducing and coping with stress are discussed, such as relearning, simple awareness of the causes and especially biofeedback. Finally, responses to the situation of finding oneself in an organization or work role that is insane are considered and applied to the criminal justice system. [Description provided by NIOSH]
