Description:Sound pressure level measurements are made in the engine room of a fishing boat housing two high speed diesel engines and three diesel driven generators, the workers being exposed to noise for six-hour intervals. The sound level is found to be above safe limits, and recommendations are made for reduction of noise by providing a sound isolation enclosure for engine room personnel, and for obtaining pre- employment and periodic pure tone audiograms of the personnel.
