Description:Details are given of a hydride fuel system to provide 5 kg of h2 to fuel a caterpillar engine previously modified to operate on hydrogen fuel and intended to power an underground mining vehicle. The fuel system was installed onto the engine, and the engine-fuel system was tested under cold-start conditions and a full range of engine loads and speeds. Refueling tests were also performed. The fuel system will support full engine power and allow delivery of at least 3/4 power on a continuous basis from cold-start conditions. [Description provided by NIOSH]
