Despite these challenges, HCWs have advocated successfully for reforms across states, and professional organizations have heightened awareness. The Conceptual Model for Nursing and Health Policy posits that nurses can support policy efforts across governmental, institutional, and organizational settings (Russell & Fawcett, 2005). This section will review the current landscape and future opportunities across these settings. The section concludes with advocacy opportunities to reform HD handling policies.
