Description:Adult entertainment actors should not rely only on HIV testing to prevent them from getting HIV. This was a key finding by the Occupational Health Branch after investigating whether a male adult entertainment actor transmitted HIV to another actor as a result of unprotected sex during a film shoot. In collaboration with the CDPH Office of AIDS and the Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Branch, OHB has created a health alert that discusses the case and provides the following prevention points for adult entertainment actors: Always use condoms; Get tested frequently for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases; Consider HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The alert is available at Occupational HIV Transmission in the Adult Entertainment Film Industry. [Description provided by NIOSH]
