Description:This chapter provides a review of the research on how victims of sexual harassment appraise and cope with their experiences of sexual harassment, as grounded in Lazarus and Folkman's (1984) Transactional Stress theory. How victims appraise their experience should influence what coping strategy they choose, and both should ultimately affect how the harassment experience affects them. The empirical literature supports this, in part. We present an overview of this research - as well as areas in need of research - in effort of guiding both researchers and practitioners alike.
