Description:The enthalpies of combustion of six alkyl cyclopropanes were measured by oxygen-bomb combustion calorimetry. The following values are reported for the standard enthalpy of combustion deltaH degrees c(298.15 K)/kcal mol-1 of these compounds in the liquid state: methylcyclopropane, -(649.87+/-0.14); ethycyclopropane, -(805.91+/-0.18); 1,cis-2-dimethylcyclopropane, -(805.55+/-0.14); 1,trans-2-dimethylcyclopropane, -(804.49+/-0.18); 1,1,2-trimethylcyclopropane, -(951.21+/-0.18); 1,1,2,2-tetramethylcyclopropane, -(1107.94+/- 0.20). Values of the enthalpy of formation of the liquids were derived. [Description provided by NIOSH]
