Description:Partnership development is an ongoing activity for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). Public health leaders recognize the need to expand community collaboration for improving health. The faith sector, made up of organizations of faith, represents the values of the community and is key to addressing many of the social health issues of today. Interventions that seek to change behaviors or social norms must consider the community values and the underlying influence of faith practices in the community if these interventions are to be effective. It is for this reason that the forum Engaging communities as partners in improving community health was held November 24, 1997.
