Description:A guide Is being prepared for the design of explosion-proof electrical enclosures. It will address those aspects of design which affect enclosure strength and ruggedness. Material selection will be covered only for materials such as polycarbonates, adhesives, and sealants which can be seriously degraded by the mine environment. The guide will not address electrical function, nor will it duplicate or supplant the requirements set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 30, Part 18 (Schedule 2G). If followed, the design guide should assure that the strength and ruggedness requirements of Schedule 2G are met. [Description provided by NIOSH]
