Description:A drilling worksite has many health and safety hazards. Drillers can see tripping hazards and dust, but may not realize that the noise around a drill rig can cause hearing loss. Over the course of a career, exposure to sound levels above 90 dB can cause noise-induced hearing loss. The sound levels while hammer drilling can reach 110 dB. At this sound level, a driller would be overexposed to noise in 30 minutes according to OSHA and MSHA regulations. To reduce drillers' exposure to noise, NIOSH has developed a Partial Cab for surface drill rigs without cabs. NIOSH research shows that the Partial Cab can reduce sound levels at the control panel by as much as 9 dB. This CD includes: 1. Video - see the partial cab prototype in action; 2.
