Description:This annual summary was prepared by the Federal Interagency Work Group charged with the coordination of federally funded efforts to improve the protection afforded by chemical protective clothing (CPC) and equipment. The information contained in this report concerned chemical resistance characteristics of clothing, breathing apparatus, eyewear and other equipment; methods of testing clothing and equipment materials and ensembles; criteria for selecting, using and caring for CPC and equipment; problems and considerations associated with donning/doffing, decontamination, and storage practices; guidelines for mitigating the effects of heat stress and other physiological hazards and discomforts; the reliability of chemical resistance testing, and the relationship between laboratory testing and field use; dermal exposure limits and their relationship to chemical resistance test results; and the development and utility of mathematical models for predicting the chemical resistance performance of clothing and equipment materials.
