  The purpose of this pamphlet was to instruct employees working in the area of soldering and brazing as to the hazards of their occupation. Each type of soldering and brazing operation was discussed separately. These included torch soldering and brazing, flame heated soldering irons, dip soldering and brazing, furnace brazing, induction soldering and brazing, resistance soldering and brazing, spray gun soldering, infrared brazing, and hot air fusion soldering. Additional topics considered included adequate preparation of the worksite, personal protective equipment (eye, face, skin, and respiratory), environmental controls (dilution ventilation, local exhaust ventilation, administrative control), and first aid treatment for specific injuries occurring during the course of the job. Particular health hazards noted included cleaning agents, soldering fluxes, brazing fluxes and atmospheres, base and filler metals, and gases used in torch brazing and soldering. Special emphasis was placed on preventive measures to minimize the hazards involved. A checklist for worksite safety was included along with a list of Regional Offices of NIOSH and OSHA.
