Description:In the agricultural industry, sexual harassment is a persistent and pervasive problem threatening the health, safety, and dignity of farmworking communities. Latino farmworkers face workplace sexual harassment at rates estimated to be 2-3 times higher than other industries. Previous research identified language barriers, power dynamics, and lack of organizational structure as contributing factors. However, none of the training programs available are designed for the agricultural worksite or culturally and linguistically tailored for the Latino workforce. The ¡Basta! Prevent Sexual Harassment in Agriculture was developed with and specifically for the agricultural community to address this gap. This project is working to develop and pilot test a pre/post-questionnaire to evaluate the ¡Basta! training video and curriculum with workers, supervisors, and employers during five training sessions. Our goal is to determine whether these training materials are effective improving agricultural stakeholder's knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding sexual harassment, and workplace policies and practices. We hypothesize the training will result in changes in respondent's answers that indicate increased knowledge about sexual harassment and workplace policies and procedures, modification in attitudes regarding harassing behaviors, and an increased intent to report and intervene if they witness and/or experience workplace sexual harassment. The questionnaire will be developed using sexual harassment concepts anchored in the curriculum and items drawn from previously validated instruments. The results of this pilot will help us strengthen the instrumentation to launch a comparative longitudinal study to evaluate the impact of all the components of the ¡Basta! toolkit including workplace posters, resources, policies, and procedures.
