Description:Problem gambling is associated with victimization and perpetration of interpersonal violence. Policy Implications: 1) Through its relationship with substance misuse and poor mental health, an influx in gambling will likely result in increases in violence victimization and perpetration. 2) Problem gambling programs should include screening and referral services for IPV, substance use, and mental health. Likewise, programs targeting these latter issues should screen for and provide services for problem gambling. 3) Education and prevention programs around IPV and gambling should start at a young age as the link between the two appears to materialize during adolescence.
