Description:The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted a noise-exposure assessment of the indoor firing range at the National Firearms Unit of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The purpose was to identify salient acoustic parameters associated with typical live firing activities and to provide noise abatement recommendations. Live fire measurements were obtained at 11 different positions throughout the firing range and adjacent areas using two different instrumentation systems. [Description provided by NIOSH]
