The NIOSH Total Worker Health(TM) program: an overview

  Objective: The objective of this article was to provide an overview of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Total Worker Health(TM) TWH(TM) Program that was launched by the institute in 2011. Methods: This article describes the TWH(TM) concept, relevant issues, and the NIOSH Program. Examples of the concept are provided. Results: Total Worker Health(TM) is a strategy integrating occupational safety and health protection with health promotion to prevent worker injury and illness and to advance health and well-being. Conclusions: The NIOSH TWH(TM) Program responds to demands for information and practical solutions to the health, safety, and well-being challenges that workers and their employers face. It also addresses issues related to the nation's need to sustain a globally competitive workforce. Description provided by NIOSH
