Description:A microcomputer program for the design of industrial ventilation systems is described. The program is written in BASIC computer language and is designed for use with the APPLE Microcomputer System. The program begins with the manual development of a schematic inclusive of systems details such as size and location of hoods, ducts, and work areas. The systems details are given as responses to questions posed by the program and the computer gives the best possible solutions for ventilation problems. The authors conclude that the advantages of the program are that it offers computational assistance and retains solutions for review and study, and that the system is portable and can be taken to the job site to solve problems.
