  The plan of a Public Health Service comprehensive study of the asbestos (1332214) products manufacturing industry in the United States is described. The scope of the study, designed to obtain information on the effects of exposure to the major types of asbestos used in the Unites States, is detailed. The research methodology, involving on site exposure sampling and medical studies is discussed. The author notes that the ongoing epidemiological study of workers in the asbestos products manufacturing industry will require observations covering 20 to 30 years of exposure experience.
