Morbidity and mortality study of shale oil workers in the United States.

  The health effects of occupational exposure to shale oil are reviewed. Studies from the Soviet Union and Scotland are discussed. Dermatologic problems found in miners in a 1952 United States Public Health Service study are also discussed. A current study underway to determine respiratory and dermatologic disease among shale oil workers is described. [Description provided by NIOSH]
