Description:A brief communication questions a study made at British Petroleum which found no excess of cancer mortality in vinyl-chloride (75014) workers with at least 15 years exposure. A misallocation was made of person-years at risk with resultant erroneous conclusions. Standardization of data-handling techniques for cohort mortality studies is suggestion.
