Description:Comparative measurements of the nonuniformity of distribution of ventilation in subjects with pulmonary disease (pneumoconiosis) using the nitrogen single breath test and the multiple breath nitrogen washout test, with evaluation of measured results by computer regression analysis. Data for nitrogen and oxygen volumes, alveolar ventilation, pulmonary clearance delay, and total ventilation capacity are used as a basis for recommendation of the single breath test only as a supplement to the multiple breath test for such measurements.
