Description:Discussion of the relationship of cotton dust to occupational respiratory disease among textile workers. The etiologic agent has not been isolated, but is believed to be contained in the trash portion, the mineral and lint portions being of minor hygienic importance. Several sampling techniques for cotton dust are presented with emphasis on the vertical elutriator. The use of exhaust ventilation is suggested to reduce dust levels below the threshold limit value.
