Description:Worker safety matters during lawn care. During lawn care, a metal pet tie-out stake thrown from a nearby lawnmower killed a worker. Injury Prevention Recommendations: 1. Do an initial inspection of the work area for objects, lawn fixtures, or debris that could become hazards. 2. Remove objects if they are removable. Flag or mark objects that cannot be removed. 3. Add a mulching chute to catch potential projectiles. 4. Do not allow the discharge chute to point directly at others who are nearby. See FACE report 2013-04 for more information: www.cdc.gov/niosh/face/pdfs/full201304.pdf.
