Description:N-nitroso-diethanolamine (1116547) (NDE1A) contamination in the metalworking fluids used at the Chevrolet Warren manufacturing facility (SIC-3711) was investigated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) on December 14, 1977. Samples were taken from Norton Wheelmate 810 and General Motors C-60 fluids and analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography. At a sensitivity level of 1 microgram per milliliter, neither NDE1A nor any other N-nitroso compound was detected in any of the fluid samples. NIOSH concludes that Norton Wheelmate 810 and General Motors C-60 fluids do not pose an N-nitroso compound hazard.
