  The Anheuser-Busch, Incorporated, site in St. Louis, Missouri was evaluated for inclusion in an in-depth epidemiological, industrial hygiene, and medical study of health hazards in the painting trades. The company employed 6,000 workers, including 23 painters, and employee records in both the personnel and medical departments were complete. Exposure of maintenance painters was minimal, but representative of exposure in this type of work. Occasional exposure occurred to more toxic substances such as epoxy paints. The company has an active and effective safety program, but does not employ an industrial hygienist. The authors conclude that records are good, and an exposure profile for the previous 5 years probably could be constructed. They recommend that this site be considered for in- depth survey.
