Description:Safety information for the manufacture, transport, use, and field mixing of pyrotechnics is presented based on regulations, consensus standards, and professional recommendations. Manufacturing information on federal license and permit requirements, physical specification for the manufacturing facility, safety for personnel, and fireworks specifications is summarized. Safe transportation of pyrotechnics is reviewed in relation to federal license and permit regulations, general requirements, packaging, markings, labels and placards and transport by public highway, rail, civil aircraft, and ship. Storage of fireworks is discussed with reference to permits and records, separation, storage facilities, public displays and special effects. Information on the use of fireworks and the field mixing of special effects materials is included. Appendices furnish information on chemical hazards and precautions, explosive materials, regional offices of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, OSHA fire protection regulations, federal explosives storage requirements, pertinent sections of the National Electrical Code, and pertinent specifications and regulations of the state of California.
