Detection of occlusive arterial disease in the hand and its relevance to occupational hand disease.

• Description:
  Individuals who develop Raynaud's phenomenon usually suffer from a functional vascular disorder, but they may also have this symptom as a manifestation of occlusive arterial disease of the hand. Plethysmography may be used as a test in confirming clinical impressions of occlusive diseases of the hand. Case histories are given for a truck driver, a factory worker, and a maintenance worker. Each of these patients with ischemic fingers, apparently related to occupational trauma of completely different origin, was found to have occlusive arterial disease in the hand.
