• Description:
  An industrial hygiene survey was conducted at the Triangle Brick Company, Durham, North Carolina, August 4-8, 1975, to collect air samples for acute exposure testing and to assist in collecting information for development of test methods for the medical aspects of the study of silica (7631869) exposure in the brick industry (SIC- 3251). The plant is found to have a nuisance dust problem which could be minimized by improving the material transport system so that dust would not shift off the belts, enclosing the transfer points and separating dusty operations from non-dusty operations. In spite of dusty conditions observed in the plant, of 12 air samples collected, only three showed values above the current threshold limit value for free silica.
