Description:Worker exposure to chemicals at Jeppesen Sanderson, Inc. (SIC-2732), Englewood, Colorado was investigated. An employee requested the survey which was conducted on November 4, 1981. All workers exposed to printing inks and solvents were monitored for airborne exposure to Stoddard-solvent (8052413), isopropanol (67630), Freon-113 (76131), and 1,1,1,-trichloroethane (71556). Stoddard-solvent concentrations ranged from less than 0.1 milligrams per sample to 16 milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m3). (OSHA evaluation criteria: 2000mg/m3). Concentrations for isopropanol ranged from 85 to 293mg/m3. (NIOSH evaluation criteria: 980 mg/m3). Freon-113 concentrations ranged from less than 0.02 to 2mg/m3. (OSHA evaluation criteria: 760mg/m3). Concentrations of 1,1,1- trichloroethane ranged from 3 to 15 mg/m3. (NIOSH evaluation criteria: 1910mg/m3). All concentrations were well below the evaluation criteria and OSHA standards. The author concludes that a health hazard did not exist at the time of the survey.
