Text Description: Analytic Framework: Digital Interventions to Prevent Substance Use among Adolescents
Digital interventions for substance use prevention are implemented and directed at adolescents and families of adolescents. These interventions are expected to reduce intentions to use substances among adolescents that lead to reductions initiation and use of substances.
• Reduced use is expected to reduce the development of substance use disorders, reduces morbidity and mortality, and improves substance use-related outcomes like mental health, school-related outcomes, sexual risk behaviors, antisocial behaviors and criminal justice system encounters.
• Potential effect modifiers considered include setting characteristics, such as whether the digital intervention includes school- or family-based settings, adolescent characteristics, intervention characteristics, and digital and social media exposure.
• No potential additional benefits or potential harms were thought to occur from these interventions.
