The presenters are going to present two studies about the impacts of economic policies on hypertension management and control. The objective of the first study is to review the evidence on the association between economic policies and hypertension management and control among adults with hypertension in the US. The findings of this systematic review suggest that economic policies aimed at expanding insurance coverage or improving health care quality successfully improved medication use and blood pressure control among US adults with hypertension.

The objective of the second study is to examine the impact of state telehealth payment and coverage parity laws on hypertension management. This study concludes that state telehealth payment parity laws were significantly associated with greater medication adherence, whereas coverage parity laws were not. With the increasing adoption of telehealth parity laws across states, these findings may support policymakers in understanding potential implications on management of hypertension.

In this Coffee Break, the presenters talked more about the methods and results of both studies.
