Description:Nearly 2 billion people, or a quarter of the global population, is estimated to have been infected with TB bacteria, and 10.6 million people become sick with active TB disease each year. Globally, TB is a leading cause of death from an infectious disease, second only to COVID-19, claiming 1.3 million lives in 2022, even though a TB cure has existed for more than 70 years. Fortunately, TB is preventable and curable, so the global community can end TB if existing tools in all affected countries are implemented at scale.
