Description:Tick-borne diseases—such as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Powassan encephalitis—rarely capture national attention like the mosquito-borne Zika received in 2016. National surveillance data show that ticks cause more disease than mosquitoes. Tick-borne disease cases almost doubled in the United States between 2004 and 2016.
