Description:The responsibility for the collection and publication of statistics on notifiable Diseases in States and on deaths in large cities will be transferred from the National Office of Vital Statistics (NOVS) to the Communicable Disease Center effective January 1, 1961. All other vital statistics reportsand recorde should continue to be sent to NOVS.
The MMWR Weekly Report will not be changed in format immediately nor will there be any changes in the mailing list. A letter has been sent to the individual States and cities regarding details of the transfer, Transmission of reports, and an interim plan to provide the Communicable Disease Center with duplicate information during the 3 weeks preceding the transfer. Beginning with data for the week ending January 7, 1961, all weekly telegraphic and epidemiologic reports from the States and Mortality reports from 123 cities—these reports only, and not others received by NOVS from these sources—should be sent to the: Communicable Disease Center Atlanta 22, Georgia.
