Description:Correspondence between Senator John Kerry and Daniel R. Levinson, Inspector General of the Dept. of Health and Human Services Office of Investigations concerning a Feb. 5, 2007 MSNBC televised report alleging that CDC officials blocked "an investigation into the deaths of six firefighters whose personal safety equipment failed between 1998 and 2000 and failing to take action until nine more firefighters died under similar circumstances." The three documents in this file were sent between February and August 2007. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) investigation found no indication of wrongdoing by CDC. However, the OIG did find areas that could be imporved while investigating the deaths of fire fighters.
