  A comprehensive set of guidelines for environmental statistics and information should deal with measures of human health, physical measures of the environment, and the linkage of the two. In accordance with the legal provision which allows review and revision at least every three years, this initial version treats only the first of the three areas. Subsequent versions will include consideration of environmental data and the interrelation of environment and health measures as contributions from experts in these areas are incorporated.
