Description:The development and operation of the National Reporting System for Family Planning Services are presented from its origin in 1968 through its status in 1975. This presentation includes a description of the predecessor of the National Reporting System--the Provisional Reporting System for Family Planning Services. A brief discussion of the legislative and historical background concerning the involvement of the Federal Government in the provision of family planning services is also given. The last section of the report includes a discussion of the growth of the reporting system during the first 6 full years of its operation as well as a brief description of the conversion of the 100-percent system to a sample survey during 1977.
